Wafer butterfly valve has simple structure, small volume, light weight, and has good fluid control characteristics. Its disc is installed in the diameter direction of pipeline, so the valve can be quickly opened and closed by rotating its disc 90 degrees.
The wafer body is easy to be connected between two pipeline flange with flange bolts, but it cannot be used at end in a fluid system.

Wafer Type Butterfly Valves VS Lug Type
1. Material (Similarity):
The valve (Lug Type and Wafer Type) is made of cast iron, ductile iron, cast steel as well as stainless steel.
2. Design Pressure (Similarity):
The valve (Lug Type and Wafer Type) has low pressure, DIN PN10/16, ASTM CL125/CL150.
3. Range of Applications:
Both Lug and wafer are used in a number of applications for industrial sectors that include food processing, pharmaceutical, chemical, oil, gas, water as well as wastewater management.
4. Installation (Similarity and Difference):
The wafer valve is designed to be clamped between two flanges. And the Lug valve can be installed on the piping by threaded bolts or flanges.
5. Action:
Both Lug and water valves can adjust (1/4, 1/2) and close the flow. And this two kinds can be installed with electrical actuator for more convenience.
6. Alternative:
This wafer type can be replaced by lug type in use, but the opposite is not true.

Putting the butterfly valve in the middle of the two flanges which fully welded to both ends of the pipe and locking the butterfly valve through the pipe flange with double head bolts, it should always be installed concentrically between flanges, position disk in the closed position during installation to prevent damage of disc sealing edge, Try the disc by moving it from the closed position to open and back to ensure it moves flexibly
