When the diameter is changed, the concentric reducer has small interference to the fluid flow state. So the concentric reduce is widely used in gas and vertical liquid pipe system. The eccentric reducer is flat on one side which is good for exhaust or liquid drainage. Therefore, the eccentric reducer is generally used in a horizontally installed liquid pipes.
